Currently, I am 145 pages into Fahrenheit 451 and I think its safe to say that it is my new favorite book. I love how different the world is in the novel. It has futuristic characteristics that strike my interest and keep me reading. I love reading about predictions of what our future may look like or seem like. After reading books like Divergent where a world is sectioned into factions and different societies, this one seems like our world just updated in their technology and style. Though, firefighters don't put out fires, they start them and they aren't burning things that you would have thought they would be burning. They are burning books. Books are illegal. This is something that also drew me into the book. I find it so interesting that something that has built our world up with stories and knowledge is now illegal and some generations will not know what a book is. It fascinates me!
One of the things I didn't appreciate was the short life of Clarisse McClellan. If you read my last post, you would know that I fell in love with this character and how different she was compared to all the other characters. I hope that see makes another appearance in the novel before the end. I feel like the character could have had more potential having her present in the story longer. But even though Clarisse was short lived, I did gain an appreciation for Guy Montag's wife, Mildred. I found her very humorous with her life drawn to the TV and the people living in the wall of her home. This character always kept me turning the pages with her personality and conversations with Guy.
Overall, I am enjoying this book so much and I see the back cover of the book coming closer and closer.
